Soak for 24-48 hours in water making sure your at least 2-3 inches of water above the maize to allow for expanding.

Then Transfer to a saucepan you may need to top up the water.

Bring to boil and then drop it down to a simmer for 20-30 minutes or until soft enough to push a baiting needle into.
