The shelf life is usually 1-2 years and should be displayed on the tub.
Opening and closing the pot won’t effect the shelf life just avoid getting them wet or in direct sunlight.
I usually just put half in a bait box on the bank or what I expect to use and keep the rest in my carryall for the next session.
What’s in the bait box at the end of the day doesn’t go back into the tub as it has probably got wet.
When back home store them in a cool cupboard or garage and you’ll be fine.
I’d avoid the fridge purely because when you remove them from the fridge the heat exchange may create condensation inside the pot.
